One of the best ways to grow as an educator is to reflect back on your year and see what worked and what didn't. I always sent out an end of the year survey to my parents where they could anonymously give feedback on the year. I found it really helpful to guide me for the upcoming year. {If anyone is interested I would be happy to pass along the questions I sent.} Here are 18 questions {from this website} to discuss about your year and see what ideas you may want to add/change/remove for next year. What knowledge did you gain by doing this reflection? Any great "A-ha" moments to share?
All teachers deal with it. Even as adults we feel spring fever and summer break distracting us from our work. With 4 weeks left of school, there is still a lot of material to cover and lots of time to manage our classes. So how do you not only survive but flourish? Find ways to make learning fun! Here are some great reflective writing questions for students. Lots of end of the year activities here, including this fun mystery person activity. 20 days of school left-do fun activities each day! I did this in my class each year and it was fun for both the kids and me:) I used brown paper bags that were numbered instead of balloons to avoid any issues with latex allergies! We did activities such as art day, read outside, sidewalk chalk day, write with a pen day, bubble gum blowing contest, etc. If you need more ideas, here is a great free resource! Send them off to summer with a smile. Have students praise one another and take a picture to send home with them. Here is a great idea for rewarding students for good behavior. It is a class game where you divide students into teams to track great days! Have your kids write letters or make a scavenger hunt for next year's class! Invite parents in and serve up a reading cafe! This idea looked so fun.
